GARETH TAYLOR PREVIEW

Gareth Taylor said Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw was in contention for Sunday’s big Barclays Women’s Super League clash with Chelsea.

The Jamaican was absent for the opening game at West Ham due to an injury she picked up while on international duty.

The news this week, however, is good as Taylor revealed she’s trained and will be in his thinking ahead of this weekend.

Taylor also said that Demi Stokes, who signed a one-year extension to her contract in June, is getting closer to a return but won’t be available for Sunday.

PREVIOUS MEETING

Goals from Filippa Angeldahl and Lauren Hemp secured City a fine 2-0 win the last time we locked horns with Chelsea.

The Swede set the tone for a fantastic afternoon at the Joie Stadium with a sublime lob over Ann-Katrin Berger from just inside the area.

Our England winger doubled the advantage soon after with a stinging drive into the top corner to send the majority of the 5,000-strong crowd into raptures.

LAST TIME OUT

City began the 2023/24 WSL season with a fine 2-0 win away at West Ham in our previous outing.

After a goalless first half, Lauren Hemp broke the deadlock shortly after the interval with an impressive, curling effort from the edge of the box.

The disappointment of seeing Chloe Kelly's penalty superbly saved was soon extinguished when Jill Roord netted on debut when she battled into the box and coolly slotted home.

Despite being reduced to 10 players when Leila Ouahabi was sent off, Taylor's side produced a strong defensively display to claim three points in the capital.

RISE: THE STORY OF OUR SEASON

‘Rise: The Story of our Season’ – the latest documentary from City Studios - will be released on CITY+ this weekend, charting the progress of Manchester City Women across the 2022/23 campaign.

Records were broken, reputations were forged, and an exciting young squad showed they could go toe-to-toe with the best that England has to offer.

Our cameras were there every step of the way, capturing the thrills and spills of a compelling WSL title race which went down to the wire.
