With Pep Guardiola in the City dugout having masterminded Barca to two Champions League trophies in four seasons as boss there, the Catalan led us to a memorable victory over his boyhood club.
Barcelona had beaten City in all five previous meetings over the previous two-and-a-half years, with the likes of Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Neymar and Luis Suarez all at the peak of their powers.

However, Guardiola had arrived at City in the summer of 2016 seeking to build on the work of Roberto Mancini and Manuel Pellegrini domestically and turn us into a continental force to be reckoned with.
And this was a result that did just that, with Ilkay Gundogan scoring a brace either side of Kevin De Bruyne’s finish after Messi had put the visitors in the lead.
After a 4-0 defeat at the Camp Nou only a couple of weeks earlier, it was a real signal of intent that the Blues meant business on the biggest of stages.
Incredibly, it remains the last competitive meeting between the sides despite both going deep in the Champions League regularly ever since.
