Pep Guardiola preview
“It starts 0-0 and is a massively important game for us, definitely,” said Pep.
“It’s just three games left, after that game it’s two. We have a huge respect for them.
“It’s the best results we’ve got in a row; we didn’t have that this season. I know at the beginning of the season we did it, but yeah, we can do better.”
Previous meeting
City secured a 1-0 victory over the Saints when the sides last met at the Etihad back in October of last year.
A fifth minute goal from Erling Haaland proved enough to overcome a stubborn visitors’ defence and so seal the three points for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Last time out
City made it five wins in a row in all competitions thanks to a battling 1-0 home win over a resurgent Wolves on Friday, May 2.
A 35th minute effort from Kevin De Bruyne ensured victory over the men from Molineux and so further boost City’s push for a Champions League place next season.
Southampton meanwhile went down 2-0 away to to Leicester City in their latest Premier League clash ahead of hosting City.
