Post-match verdict 📺

Pep Guardiola on the result 👇

“It’s a missed opportunity. We know that.

“They defend so deep. We couldn’t get the rhythm. The second half was better, last 30 minutes we had chances. We could not convert.

“We have three games, the FA Cup and two games until the last and we fight until the end.”

Post-match verdict 📺

Manuel Akanji on being back in the starting XI 👇

“It’s my first 90 minutes after my injury. I am happy the manager gave me the trust to start.

“The last 90 minutes was before Real Madrid. I am happy to be back. I wished it was with three points but I hope we can get the trophy next weekend.”

Post-match verdict 📺

Manuel Akanji on the Saints result 👇

“We tried from the first minute and we had chances, not 100% chances, but still chances.

“Today we gave everything.

“In the end we still had to find a way to score a goal and win the game.

“With a win today we could have made a huge step. The good thing is it is still in our own hands.  If we win Bournemouth it might look different.”

From the Matchday Live Studio 📺

More from Steve Howey 👇

“It was just that final pass or final ball. They tried absolutely everything. You can’t really fault effort and application.

“It was that final bit of quality in the final third, maybe the quickness of the passing.

“It’s been bang, bang, bang and straight through. That wasn’t the case today.

“There are two games and it’s in their hands.”

From the Matchday Live Studio 📺

Steve Howey on the result 👇

“We didn’t get that break or slice of luck. Credit to Southampton. Fair play to them.

“It was just unlucky that the Marmoush chance beats the keeper but not the post.

“While disappointing, you have to move on to the next game. It’s all in our hands.”

Full-Time

It finishes 0-0 on a frustrating afternoon for City at St Mary’s.

There was no little effort and endeavour from Pep Guardiola’s men but the Blues couldn’t find the decisive winner against Southampton.

We’ve now got Bournemouth at home and Fulham away to close out the top-flight campaign as we look to secure Champions League football next season.

That’s as well as the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace next weekend, of course.

Join Steve Howey and Kevin Davies on Matchday Live as they give their verdict on this afternoon’s game.
