TEAM NEWS

Pep Guardiola makes six changes for Monday night’s return to Premier League action away at Crystal Palace.

Kyle Walker, Joao Cancelo, Rodrigo, Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Riyad Mahrez all return to the starting line up from the side that played Sporting in the Champions League last Wednesday.

Walker was suspended for the Sporting clash while Cancelo has recovered from the bout of illness that ruled him out of that game.

Rodrigo, De Bruyne, Grealish and Mahrez all return having been on the bench against the Portuguese side.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Zack Steffen and Dutch defender Nathan Ake have both recovered from injury and take their place amongst the substitutes at Selhurst Park this evening.

CRYSTAL PALACE: Guaita, Mitchell, Clyne, Andersen, Guehi, Olise, Schlupp, Kouyate, Gallagher, Zaha, Mateta.

Subs: Butland, Matthews, Ward, Tomkins, Ayew, Eze, Benteke, Edouard, Riedewald.

CITY: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Laporte, Cancelo, Rodrigo, De Bruyne (c), Bernardo, Grealish, Foden, Mahrez

Subs: Steffen, Carson, Ake, Mbete, Fernandinho, Zinchenko, Gundogan, Sterling, Jesus.

Last time out

City secured our spot in the Champions League quarter-finals courtesy of a 0-0 draw with Sporting CP at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola’s men had all but guaranteed progression following a 5-0 first leg triumph in Lisbon and will be in next Friday’s last eight draw courtesy of our aggregate victory.

Previous Meeting

City were dealt our first home defeat of the season as goals from Wilfried Zaha and Conor Gallagher earned Crystal Palace a 2-0 victory back in October.

Zaha gave the visitors an early lead when his scuffed effort found the far corner of Ederson’s net, the first Premier League goal Guardiola’s men had conceded at the Etihad Stadium across 2021/22.

Things then went from bad to worse when Aymeric Laporte was shown a straight red card on the stroke of half time after bringing down the Ivorian.

City thought we’d drawn level when Gabriel Jesus volleyed home from a tight angle in the second half, but VAR spotted an offside in the build-up.

And with City piling bodies forward in search of an elusive equaliser, Chelsea loanee Gallagher doubled the Eagles’ advantage with an unstoppable 88th minute drive from close-range.

Form Guide

City are unbeaten in our last four matches, and have avoided defeat in each of our last nine away fixtures in all competitions.

Guardiola’s men currently sit top of the Premier League table, three points clear of second-placed Liverpool.

Patrick Vieira’s side are in fine form ahead of Monday’s clash, winning three of their last four matches in all competitions.

Goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Wilfried Zaha earned the Eagles a 2-0 win away to Wolves in their last outing.
