We are in the thick of the title race with just five games remaining, and City created a bit of history under the Twerton Park lights in what could already be a memorable campaign.
Our 3-0 triumph over Bristol City means Gareth Taylor’s are now embarking on our longest ever WSL winning run, overtaking the previous record set under Nick Cushing between May 2017 and January 2018.
It was made possible by another convincing display from City, with Weir timing her late run into the box to perfection to sweep home our opener inside 12 minutes from Chloe Kelly’s ball across.
After some half-time changes, our opponents were quick out of the blocks and pushed City right to the final whistle, but as legs began to tire Gareth Taylor’s side carved out a number of late chances.
After some inspired saves from Vixens’ stopper Sophie Baggaley to deny White and Abby Dahlkemper in particular, she was eventually beaten in the 89th minute.
Substitute Janine Beckie raced through on goal having been released down the left and, after her effort was deflected high into the air by Baggaley, Mewis was on hand to head home her sixth goal in five matches.
