Manchester City are proud to offer Educational Stadium Tour Experiences. Developed with industry experts, aimed at Key Stages 2, 3 and 4, A Level and University students.

Our Educational Stadium Tour Experiences allow students of all levels to gain a fascinating insight into the high-performing world of Manchester City. These exciting out of the class room experiences dive into the business of a football club and life at the Etihad Stadium linking back to the English National Curriculum and Exam Boards.

All experiences are led by an expertly trained guide, school groups will be toured around the Etihad Stadium paying special attention to areas that relate to their chosen subject. Each experience is carefully tailored to ensure it is suitable to each group.

    Match Report

    Suitable for English Key Stages 2-4.

    We recreate the excitement of a thrilling match so your pupils can take the role of a journalist in our interview areas. Aligned to the English National Curriculum, the students will take a tour of the stadium focusing on the role of the media on a matchday. Using a range of questioning techniques, the pupils will prepare questions and answers related to moments in the match they have just watched and then interview each other where the real players are interviewed on a matchday.

  • Day in the Life of a Footballer

    Day in the Life of a Footballer

    Suitable for Science Key stages 2-4 and PE Key Stage 3.

    During the stadium tour we will follow a player from the moment they wake upon a matchday through to going home, as well as talk about what they do to prepare on the days prior to matchday and how they recover. Our trained tour guides will give the inside knowledge on preparation, fitness, diet, performance analysis, training, nutrition in areas that are used by the players on matchday.

  • The Stadium as a Business

    The Stadium as a Business

    Suitable for Maths Key Stage 3-4 and Business Studies Key Stage 3-4.

    This tour explores some specific revenue streams, roles, and careers at the stadium, showing the many commercial aspects that operate alongside the big match. Students will visit key areas of the stadium and discuss how they generate revenue for the club while discussing new and innovative ideas on new commercial avenues.

    Urban Regeneration

    Suitable for Geography Key Stage 3-4, A-Level & University students.

    Focusing on the principles of regeneration using the Etihad Campus as a case study. The presentation will tell the story of East Manchester and look at the site in detail throughout the decades, highlighting the different phases of regeneration to how the site has gotten to where it is today. The experience includes a tour of the site followed by a 45-minute presentation.

  • Modern Foreign Languages in Football

    Modern Foreign Languages in Football

    Suitable for Language Key Stage 3-4 & A-Level

    Our Modern Foreign Languages in Football experience highlights the benefits of being multilingual in today’s global economy. Using Manchester City as an example, students discover the many languages spoken across the club and explore careers where language skills are an asset. Pupils take part in interactive challenges to listen to, read and speak in various foreign languages. The stadium tour is delivered in English, but schools can request handheld guides in different languages or, where possible, bilingual tour guides, though availability for the latter cannot be guaranteed.

  • Careers in Football

    Careers in Football

    Suitable for Key Stage 3-4, A-Level & University students.

    Our new Careers in Football workshop helps schools achieve Gatsby benchmarks 2, 3 and 4 by raising pupils’ aspirations and challenging the idea that only players and coaches work in football. With over 1,000 employees at City the workshop explores our departments and career paths, highlighting day-to-day tasks, required skills and routes into each role. Pupils will also hear advice from City staff and learn how to stay informed about future opportunities at the club. This workshop is aimed at 11-18 year olds.

We have a café at the tours starting point, where you can enjoy selection of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and snacks before your tour. Please arrive with plenty of time before your tour if you are planning on spending some time in the café. You cannot bring your own food and drink into the stadium.

We have vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options available but for allergy advice, please speak to your server.

Parking is free of charge on the day of your tour (on non-matchdays) in our Blue car park (M11 2DU). The most suitable car park for cars and coaches located to T Tower is Grey Car Park which can be found using the postal code M11 3DL. This is accessed on a first-come-first-served basis. Overflow parking is located in Blue Car Park which can be found using the postal code M11 3DU. Upon arrival, if asked, please tell the steward at the gate that you are booked onto a stadium tour.?

On matchdays, parking should be pre-booked, here, and is charged at the matchday rate. ?

 

You will check-in for your tour at Joe’s West. A member of our education team will prepare lanyards for all of your group, as these will act as accreditation for the tour. You will then be able to wait in Joe’s West until your tour starts, as advised by the education team. Please note that Joe’s West is a shared space between the educational tours and public tours.

From Friday 19th April 2024, The Manchester City Stadium Tour will commence from M-Gate at the Etihad Stadium. M-Gate is located in The South Stand, facing Grey Car Park. Guests who have pre-booked onto the Stadium Tour can head straight to the new start point at M-Gate where you will be checked in for your Tour.. We kindly ask that any bags, which are brought onto the tour, are open for a security check at this point. You will then be taken up to Joe’s West, where the check-in desk will be, and you will be greeted by a member of our education team.

We advise that all groups endeavour to complete the pre-work supplied to them prior to attending the Manchester City Tour (except for Urban Regeneration, which does not have any pre-work). Completing it is not essential but allows you to get the most from your visit. If you have any problems accessing the pre-work, please contact [email protected].

Unless instructed otherwise, photography is permitted within the Etihad Stadium.

If you have booked a group tour or educational visit, your tour guides will also provide a couple of group photo opportunities for school newsletters and magazines!
