GARETH TAYLOR PREVIEW
On coping with injuries: “Missing big players, not hiding away from that. Don’t think this season we’ve been able to pick from a full squad at any moment. Even players in the lineup now.
“For example we couldn’t call on Jill. Never been able to go full quota and I don’t think coaches get that luxury often. Players adopted to play different positions have been good. 16 games, 1 draw, 1 defeat 14 wins incredible with the low depth. Full credit to the girls who adapted and got their job done. Impressive.”
On Everton: “They are always tight and compact at home. We’ve normally gone there and done well got a stranglehold on the game.
“They are suffering a bit but they did draw with Arsenal earlier in the season. They’re more than capable.
“For us it’s about being prepared for this game and said last night i never normally look past a game, but with everton I had an eye on Sunday as it’s super important for us.”
LAST TIME OUT
Our midweek meeting with St Polten in the Champions League saw City extend our winning form in the group stage.
18-year-old Lily Murphy, on her first start for the Club, put City ahead on 55 minutes after Taylor’s team were relentless in recycling attack after attack against an organised Austrian side.
11 minutes later Kerstin Casparij scored her first goal in blue to double City’s advantage. A strong defensive performance added to our form in front of goal meant City confirmed a 2-0 victory to stay top of Group D.
PREVIOUS MEETING
Goals from Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw and Lauren Hemp helped us to a 2-1 success over Everton at the Joie Stadium the last time we locked horns with the Toffees.
The Jamaican opened the scoring on 15 minutes before our skilful winger doubled the advantage shortly after half-time.
Hanna Bennison pulled a goal back for the visitors but we defended well and protected our lead to collect three points.
