The Barclays Women’s Super League champions make the short journey across the city to Leigh Sports Village on Sunday 25 October, with kick-off set for 18:00 (UK).
It was a difficult start to the season for our opponents under new boss Eva Olid, but after victories over Liverpool and Charlton United, the Red Devils are starting to find their feet.
City, on the other hand, are still the only side to boast a 100% record as we approach Gameweek Seven.
And as in previous Manchester derby encounters, Jeglertz is expecting another difficult assignment, with the quality of players at our cross-city rivals’ disposal a potential threat as they hope to disrupt our unbeaten run.
“I knew that just looking at the squad and what players they have,” he said.
“It’s a very good team.
“They have a new coach and it takes some time to set how she wants to play and what she wants to do with the players but they have shown in the last games the quality is there.
“I’m not surprised about it.
“They’re a good team and they can punish us if we don’t reach the level we need to.”
This weekend’s clash will mark the 23rd competitive meeting between the two Manchester sides, with City boasting 12 wins compared to six draws and five defeats.
So far this season the Blues have netted on 19 occasions with seven coming from our prolific number nine, Bunny Shaw.
United, however, aren’t far behind our tally with 13 on the board to date, so it will no doubt be another game to remember.
In our clashes with the Red Devils, City have scored a staggering 41 goals, whilst United have found the back of the net 26 times and Jeglertz marked how a winning momentum plays a key part coming into these big ties.
“The most important thing for a player and a team is confidence,” he added.
“They have confidence because they’ve been winning and scoring a lot of goals.
“So are we. We are in a good flow, we’ve won a lot of games and scored goals.
“It’s always going to be about us but when we have the ball we need to make sure we play to our strengths.
“It will be a tight game, it’s two great teams.
“Both teams are really hungry to win the game.”
It’s a great occasion which saw City record two memorable 3-0 victories over the Red Devils last season.
A Vivianne Miedema brace and Kerstin Casparij strike in March helped us on our way to our first WSL title in a decade as we came away with all the glory at Old Trafford.
“I think it means a lot of course for the players, fans, everybody,” Jeglertz added.
“To play these games, it’s amazing to be part of that and a little bit special.
“What we had last year, it’s of course given us great memories.”
