Bert Trautmann’s great grandson has paid a fitting tribute to the legendary goalkeeper at the Etihad Stadium.

We’re celebrating ‘Trautmann 100’ this weekend, with today marking the former No.1’s 100th birthday.

And, in a lovely touch, Ben Sutherland, 9, was a mascot at the Brighton game, which we won 2-1.

It was also fantastic to see Ben walk out with ‘Trautmann’ on the back of his shirt as we remembered the heroic stopper who played for City between 1949 and 1964.

Ben was all-smiles as he walked out alongside Stefan Ortega Moreno, our incumbent between the sticks against the Seagulls.

Of course, Trautmann wasn’t the only hero to be remembered at Saturday’s game.

We also honoured Francis Lee, who sadly passed away just over two weeks ago.

There was a wonderful illustration of Francis on the front cover of the matchday programme, as well as four pages dedicated to him.

The Etihad’s East Stand also saw a giant tifo, featuring that front cover visual, showcased before kick-off.

It was a hugely emotional afternoon and one where our players did both heroes proud.
