PEP GUARDIOLA PREVIEW

“Of course, we won three games [in a row]. Before it was impossible to win one and now we won three. That helps us,” the City boss declared.

“But the reality is, we won against a team from League Two. For many reasons we should win.

“We did it quite well but still we have to wait to see where we are.

“The mood is better. We have an enormously difficult game. Thomas and his team always create a lot of problems.  They are a fantastic, fantastic team.

“In set pieces and high pressing, they are so aggressive.

“When they defend deep, they are so compact. Their transitions are tight.

“[For] many years in the Premier League doing really, really well.

“Last game was not the best result at home but the trajectory in the last few years has been really good.”

PREVIOUS MEETING

In our last trip to Brentford back in February 2024, Phil Foden scored his second career hat-trick to seal a 3-1 comeback victory and move us to within two points of the Premier League summit.

Later that month, we beat the Bees in the league again, this time at the Etihad, with Erling Haaland’s goal securing the points.

In the reverse fixture earlier this season, it was Haaland again who made the difference, netting twice to earn a 2-1 win at the Etihad.

LAST TIME OUT

Our last league game was a convincing 4-1 victory over West Ham United at the Etihad, with Savinho assisting thrice, Haaland scoring twice, and Foden also finding the net.

We were in FA Cup action on the weekend and cruised into the fourth round of the competition by beating Salford City 8-0, with James McAtee grabbing a hat-trick.

As for Brentford, they coasted to a 5-0 victory in the league last time out away to Southampton. They were also in FA Cup action at home to Championship side Plymouth, and suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to exit the competition.
