The Brazilian winger has put pen to paper on a five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium after impressing for Palmeiras in his homeland.
It’s a familiar path, with Vitor Reis and Gabriel Jesus making the same switch previously.
City also have a heritage of Brazilian talent, with Ederson and Fernandinho amongst the greatest players ever to represent the club.
As well as taking inspiration from those talents, Allan also says he’s an admirer of the way we play the game.
“We followed the team a lot there in Brazil because of the beautiful football in which Manchester City plays,” he said in his first interview as a City player.
“When Pep was still here it was pretty much that famous tiki-taka, so I followed it a lot and I really liked to see it.
“I have followed the Premier League a lot, I watched City a lot of games and there’s no bad game in the Premier League.
“Brazilians have good examples here, so I believe we arrive confident to give our best, to deliver the maximum and be another good Brazilian here in the Premier League.”
Given Reis arrived in Manchester from Palmeiras in January 2025, Allan says the defender has offered to help him get used to life here.
“He sent me a message, when there were still some rumors going on,” he said.
“We still haven’t talked about what it’s like here but he said that when I arrived, he would give me attention and talk to me and explain to me how it works.”
This isn’t the first big move of Allan’s career, having left his surf haven hometown of Florianopolis for the sprawling metropolis of Sao Paulo in order to make the grade with Palmeiras.
Our new man believes that helped him in the long run.
“It was a very arduous process. I arrived at Palmeiras at the age of 15.
“I left Florianopolis, my city, went to Sao Paulo, a big city, alone, so I think it was quite painful.
“But I had people by my side there to help me, to adapt, and it was a good process.”
