Predictions ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League game, a word from Jen Beattie on Sunday’s big clash and the opposition’s preparations all feature in your Saturday media round-up!

We’ve got a busy weekend ahead with Pep Guardiola’s men travelling to London to face West Ham as well as the second-leg of the Uefa Women’s Champions League semi-final against Lyon.

First up, we start with Premier League predictions…

Mark Lawrenson writes in his BBC Sport column that he expects City to secure a 2-0 win over the Hammers on Sunday.

The pundit writes: “West Ham lost heavily against Arsenal last weekend and they will have to be careful that something similar does not happen again on Sunday.

“Manchester City might have the title in the bag already, but there is no way their manager Pep Guardiola will let them take the foot off the gas.

“City want to break records, be it for most points in a Premier League season or most goals and they will be going for it at London Stadium. I just don’t see the Hammers stopping them.”

We may have already become Champions, but there are still more goals and points to grab on Sunday in order to break records in the competition.

Simon Bajkowski of the Manchester Evening News has written a piece on how two of our City stars are able to help ‘smash’ another Premier League record!

“Goals from Leroy Sane and David Silva before the end of the season will help Manchester City make even more Premier League history,” Bajkowski states. “Pep Guardiola’s side have been free-scoring from the opening match and are set to smash the record for most goals in a single campaign, with two more needed to break through the 100 barrier and six to set a new landmark.

“And the goals have been shared throughout the team.

“Of the 13 players that have scored in this year’s competition, Sergio Aguero leads the way with 21 followed by Raheem Sterling on 18 and Gabriel Jesus on 11.

“Closely following Jesus are David Silva and Leroy Sane, both on nine goals while Kevin De Bruyne moved up to eight with his thunderbolt against Swansea.

“Arsenal were the last team to have four players reach double figures for goals in a Premier League season back in 2012/13, but nobody has had five individuals hit the landmark figure.

“Should two of Silva, Sane, and De Bruyne manage it in the remaining four games, City will have something else to mark their exceptional campaign.

Let’s hope they can bag some more goals tomorrow!

Next up, we hear from West Ham boss David Moyes.

“I don’t think you can play Manchester City with one formation,” Moyes said in his press conference, as quoted by the Daily Mail. “You probably need to have two or three through the game because if you find a way to stop them or work them out, they’ll overrun it.

“There’s not a team where they have not had the possession or chances. For anybody to think that we are going to have that would be naive.

“We’ll do our best to make it as hard as we can for them.”

Finally we look ahead to our chance to secure a place in the Uefa Women’s Champions League final!

Nick Cushing’s side face Lyon away on Sunday, with a kick-off time of 1.45pm.

The Blues held the European Champions to a goalless draw at the Academy Stadium, denying the French outfit an away goal with a valiant team performance and defender Jen Beattie states that the team should carry the encouragement into the next leg.

“No-one is unbeatable,” Beattie told ManCity.com. “We’re really happy to have earned a clean sheet against a really top side, going into the second leg.

“For them not to have scored an away goal, we’re obviously happy with that. They have so much quality.

“We knew they have so much fluidity within their play and that they’re so creative, playing one-touch, two-touch football all the time. They’re a really strong side.

“All European teams are improving at the minute. It’s something Clubs are trying to develop and Lyon will just get better and better. You have to accept that.

“They had a few chances but we did well to shut up shop and Karen Bardsley made some great saves as well.”
