However, the Blues manager also confirmed that this weekend’s game would come too soon for Jérémy Doku to feature.
O’Reilly was forced to withdraw from last weekend’s 1-0 Premier League win at home to Coventry with a back issue shortly before kick-off.
He subsequently also missed Tuesday’s fine 2-0 triumph away at FC Porto in our UEFA Champions League opener.
But addressing the media at Friday’s pre-derby press conference, Maresca provided an encouraging update on the England international.
“Nico is 100% available,” Maresca declared.
Doku meanwhile has been sidelined since picking up a calf issue during August’s Community Shield clash with Arsenal.
And in terms of the Belgian winger, Maresca said Doku would need a little bit more time in order to be available for selection.
“Jérémy, I think he needs some more days.”
The game will mark Maresca’s first Manchester derby since assuming the City hot seat.
It’s an occasion that carries so much meaning for everyone in Manchester.
Looking ahead to the match, the Blues boss acknowledged he knew how big the occasion was and what was at stake for what he termed a ‘special game’.
But he said the outcome for the fans and players was more important than seeking to mark his own derby record with victory.
“To be honest, I’m more thinking about the team and the fans,” the boss continued.
“The main focus is not my first derby.
“For sure, I want to win the game.
“But we want to continue to win games for everyone.”
