Bernardo Silva asserts City will not give up hope of lifting a third successive Premier League title.

The Champions fell to a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, which extended the Reds’ lead atop the table to nine points.

Bernardo was on the scoresheet to net a consolation for Pep Guardiola’s men, who dominated but faced a clinical Liverpool outfit.

Although City missed the chance to close the gap and reignite our title charge, Bernardo insists his side have no intention of throwing in the towel in November, having cut similar deficits in the past.

“We played against one of the best sides in the world,” he stated. “When you play at Anfield against one of the best teams, it’s never easy.

“We started well – we conceded the first goal when we were playing better than them.

“The first counter-attack was the first goal. It’s their quality – you cannot give them much space.

“If you give them an inch, they will take that and score goals.

“That’s what happens. You can play better than Liverpool and be 2-0 or 3-0 behind. They are maybe the best team in the world with their counter-attack, second balls and set pieces…

“It was a good performance from us but we want more than a good performance – we want to win.

“It was 3-1 to them. Congratulations. We’ll fight until the end.

“It’s still November and we still have games to play. We’re not in an ideal position – we don’t want to lose games – and we have to improve.

“We were in this position last season. We’ll never give up.”
