As we prepare to embark on our Champions League campaign we take a closer look at our upcoming opponents...

City have been drawn in Group F and are set to take on Lyon, Shakhtar Donetsk and Hoffenheim.

First up, here's everything you need to know about Hoffenheim, their form and the stadium...


Julian Nagelsmann. Nagelsmann was appointed head coach of Hoffenheim in October 2015. At the time of his appointment, Nagelsmann was 28, and the youngest manager in Bundesliga history.

Last season Hoffenheim were eliminated from the Champions League during the play-off round to Liverpool. The German-side lost the first leg tie 2-1, before a 4-2 lost in the second leg which saw them exit the competition.

They continued in the Europa League but were knocked out of the competition after finishing at the bottom of the group.

Hoffenheim have played just one game in the Bundesliga so far, which ended in defeat to Bayern Munich.*

Our away leg will be played at Rhein-Neckar-Arena, but the fixture date and kick-off time are yet to be announced.

About the stadium

The stadium has a capacity of 30,150 people and replaced Hoffenheim's former ground, the Dietmar-Hopp-Stadion.The Rhein-Neckar-Arena is located in the small town of Sinsheim approximately 5km North West of the even smaller town of Hoffenheim located in the Baden-Württemberg region of Germany. 

Transport links

The closest train station to Rhein-Neckar-Arena is Sinsheim Museum/Arena which is located around 15 minutes east of the stadium. It's served by regional commuter services from places such as Hoffenheim and Heidelberg, additional services are usually put on during matchdays.

ENGLAND: Four City players have been called up by Gareth Southgate

John Stones, Fabian Delph, Kyle Walker and Raheem Sterling have all been named in the latest England squad.

Gareth Southgate has named his England squad for games against Spain and Switzerland.
