Walking football thriving for CITC

Trefor Philips, aged 67, is just one of new breed of latter-life sportsmen who have taken up walking football as a way of keeping fit and making friends.

Each week, he joins a team of like-minded men, aged from 50 to 83, to train with City in the Community coaches at the iconic Etihad campus

Local youngsters enjoy CITC soccer schools

Hundreds of football mad youngsters in East Manchester played the beautiful game for free this summer, thanks to City in the Community’s (CITC) ‘Soccer School’ programme.

As part of the four week programme, CITC opened the doors of the state-of-the-art City Football Academy – with secondary sessions at Newall Green High School – to more than 200 children aged 6-14.

Manchester City men and women’s squads were joined by six special guests at their annual team photo.

Patients from Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital were welcomed as honorary team members for the day.

Young Leader training launches in Beijing

CITYZENS GIVING: 24 young leaders were part of the three-day course offering cutting edge training in community football.

In 2014 Manchester City, along with City Football Group’s family of Clubs, launched Cityzens Giving, empowering City fans everywhere to decide how youth led community football programmes are funded.

Building on this, we are supporting over 120 young leaders in Manchester and worldwide to tackle social challenges through football, using a combination of face-to-face training, remote mentoring, and digital networking.
