Throughout the year, both Supporters Clubs had rallied to aid the COVID-19 recovery in the wake of the global pandemic.
Inspired by Marcus Rashford MBE’s work in helping to end child food poverty, the two Clubs united to give back to a community in which they shared s strong connection by raising money for the MUFC Fans & MCFC Fans Foodbank Support Appeal, in conjunction with the Trussell Trust.
The two sides arranged two events to raise money, playing out a Supporters Club Manchester Derby and taking part in a FIFA21 tournament with other football clubs.
Both events proved a big success with the Derby game raising $1,285 AUD collectively.
With the weather on the day set to reach a scorching 40 degrees, the game was scheduled for a later kick-off but was still contested in intense heat.
Although City took the lead early on, United triumphed 6-3 in the end - but of course, the result of the day would be the money raised.
Congratulations to all involved for their terrific efforts.
The Supporters Club FIFA21 Tournament - hosted by Ultra Football - saw City, United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool compete for a store store voucher prize of $100 and title of 'best club in Sydney.'
Tim Langridge carried City through to the semi-finals but ultimately, it would be United who took the crown.
