We’re pleased to announce that the Manchester City Matchday Bus service will return for the new season with 12 new stops.
You can also find details about our new Park and Ride option from Co-op Academy Belle Vue.
travelling by bus
There will be 91 bus stops from the start of the 2026/27 season.
That includes 12 new stops at Carrington, Chorlton, East Didsbury, Flixton Village, Guide Bridge, Littleborough, Marple Station, Partington, Prestwich, Reddish, Stockport Grand Central and Whalley Range.
A small number of stops have also been removed, including Booth Street West, Central Park and Piccadilly Rail Station, as well as the Booth Street West Park and Ride.
We have worked to ensure that new and existing stops are close to other public transport services, allowing passengers, where necessary, to continue their journey by bus, rail or tram. More information below.

Anti-Terrorism Traffic Regulation Order (ATTRO)
We have recently been granted an Anti-Terrorism Traffic Regulation Order (ATTRO) covering the Etihad Stadium and surrounding road network.
For matches at the Etihad Stadium, we will initially only enforce the road closures previously covered by the existing TRO.
As part of the ATTRO operation, matchday bus arrangements have changed. Buses operating from within the closure on Ashton New Road will load as normal but will be held until authorised to depart by Event Control and then escorted through the closure.
To provide a quicker alternative, a bus operation will see additional buses operating from Alan Turing Way (near Nexen Bridge), departing as soon as they are full.
Fans and coach operators should be aware of these changes and follow all designated travel arrangements. Coaches must not stop or park illegally on Ashton New Road, as vehicles within the ATTRO area may be subject to movement restrictions or enforcement action.
City centre and Ashton shuttle buses
As well as the Match Day Buses, there will be a small change to some of the city centre-bound shuttle buses.
Strict post-match road closures will now be in effect on Ashton New Road. This will mean that the shuttle buses cannot depart until the road has re-opened – likely to be 25 minutes after the full-time whistle.
As a result, there will be buses departing from Alan Turing Way (by the junction with Ashton New Road), as well as on Ashton New Road as in previous seasons. Those based on Alan Turing Way will operate on a load and go basis and will leave depart as soon as they are full.
- Seven buses will operate to the city centre from Ashton New Road in the lay-by.
- Six buses will operate to the city centre from Alan Turing Way, just north of the junction with Ashton New Road.
- Two buses will operate to Ashton from the lay-by next to the Velopark Metrolink stop. Buses will depart once full.
alan turing way roadworks
Work is still ongoing to repair the hole on Alan Turing Way and a road closure remains in place northbound from Ashton Old Road to Ashton New Road.
The Match Day Buses which use Connell College (MC1, MC2, MC3, MC4, MC5, MC6, MC7 and MC8) will drop fans off at the lay by next to Joie Stadium pre-match, before making their way to the College.
Buses will then load, as usual, from the College for their return routes – please make your way to the College and not the lay by next to the stadium.
Free under-16 bus travel for afc Bournemouth
The Summer Bus Fare Offer, part of the government’s Great British Summer Savings scheme, allows under 16s to travel on buses in England for free until the end of August.
This extends to the Match Day Buses (across the 18 routes), shuttle buses operating between the Etihad and the city centre/Ashton and all Bee Network buses.
Please note this is for the Bournemouth match on Sunday 23 August only.

Metrolink turnstile works
Works are taking place to replace and upgrade the turnstiles on the Etihad Campus Metrolink stop, part of TfGM’s ongoing work to improve the match day experience for passengers.
While work takes place, queueing arrangements will differ and fast track will not be available. This is likely to impact the Bournemouth and Coventry games.
