The domestic season wraps up after Sunday’s home game with Norwich, which is followed by an 12-day gap before we face the newly-crowned Spanish champions – but the boss says that the focus will immediately switch to Europe come Sunday tea time.
“No. We will have two days (off) after our game against Watford. But after Watford, we make two weeks (for Madrid),” the City manager confirmed. “I’m so excited for the two weeks we have ahead for Real Madrid and for next season.”
With City making a quick return to action after Saturday’s disappointing FA Cup semi-final loss to Arsenal, the boss confirmed there would be changes to his line-up for the trip to Vicarage Road.
“We are going to make some changes (for Watford). Some players who played in the semi-final will not play but we will see. We will play the next two games and try to let them play... all of them."
The Hornets will be led by Under-23 boss Hayden Mullins with Nigel Pearson having left the Club on Sunday – but asked how he would prepare, Guardiola stressed he would remind the City players of the individual qualities possessed by Watford’s squad.
“We focus on the individual quality that the Watford players have, especially up front. We will find some ideas of what they have done with the second team,” Guardiola added.
