Pep Guardiola says he’s pleased to see the successful season Enzo Maresca is having at Chelsea so far.

The pair worked and enjoyed huge success together when Maresca was part of the Catalan’s coaching team in 2022/23 – helping City secure our historic Treble success at the end of that campaign.

Maresca subsequently left to take charge of Leicester whom he led to the Championship title last term before taking the reins at Chelsea last summer.

Chelsea will go into Saturday’s game in fourth place in the Premier League table, one place and two points above City ahead of what promises to be a key encounter.

But addressing the media at his pre-match press briefing, the Catalan reaffirmed his delight in watching Maresca thrive as a number one.

“[He’s changed Chelsea] a lot,” Pep declared.

“I think we recognised the team from day one when we played in the pre-season in the United States.

“Many things, I start to see which we spoke about many times in the last years together. Really good.

“I’m very pleased, I was a lucky man to work with him in the last years.

“Everything happened with him and his family, if he’s fine, I am fine. I’m happy for him.”
