A double either side of half-time from Antoine Semenyo looked to have given us some breathing space but Brobbey completed his hat-trick to maintain the pressure.
Erling Haaland finally sealed the victory nine minutes from time as he scored his first goal against Sunderland to complete the set of scoring against each of the 25 Premier League opponents he has faced.
Victory means City are the only Premier League side with a perfect record ahead of the three-week international break.
