UNITED v CITY: Pep preview part 2

Pep Guardiola says Leroy Sane is making good progress as he recovers from the knee injury suffered last August.

The German winger has been a noticeable absentee this season along with Aymeric Laporte and the City manager is looking forward to the prospect of a fully fit squad at some stage in the next month.

I think he is closer to training with us,” said Pep.

“I spoke to him two days ago and he is training a line with the ball and feels he handled it well.

“His knee looks good, so not too much time - maybe a few weeks. It was a different injury to Laporte, but both were serious - but I think it's the last stages.”
