Manchester derby: New decade, old rivalry

Just 31 days have passed since the last Manchester derby.

Manchester United won 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium in the final contest of the decade and now City head to Old Trafford hoping to claim victory in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg, the first match of the new era.

The omens are good.

Carlos Tevez scored twice in January 2010 as we won the first derby of the previous decade, which coincidently was also at the semi-final stage of the League Cup.

It was the first in number of high profile games in a ten-year period in which City enjoyed a great deal of success, though the period wasn’t without derby disappointment.
