Nick Cushing says City have plenty of 'strong characters' in the squad to guide his side to Women's Champions League progression.
The Cup double winners face Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16 second leg on Wednesday night, needing an away goal to have any chance of securing a place in the quarter-finals.
City head into the encounter against the side who eliminated us in the 2018/19 tournament in an uncharacteristic run of form - on the back of two defeats.
With the pressure on for a huge performance in Spain, Cushing urged his players to stand up and be counted, asserting his confidence in the side.
“If things aren’t going our way early on, I have no doubt we have strong characters and good players," he said.
“When I said after the Arsenal game about lacking the desire to put the ball in the goal, it wasn’t about individual players – it was about the team as a collective.
“When you don’t have a shot, you need people to do more. Players who are going to fight so hard to put the ball in the goal – not because we need a goal but because if you don’t score, you can’t win.
“I have so much belief in this group. We’re in a difficult period but every team goes through that.
“I don’t worry that we’ve lost football games. I’ve got the desire to get back to winning ways.”
