Paul Harsley has hailed City’s Checkatrade Trophy quarter-final clash against Sunderland the “toughest test” his players will ever come up against.
After cruising through the group stages, and securing dramatic wins over Barnsley and Rochdale, our Under-21s now prepare to meet with the Black Cats.
The Blues travel to the Stadium of Light to take on the League One high-flyers on Tuesday 22 January, kick-off at 7.45pm.
Speaking ahead of the clash, the boss stated: “It doesn’t get easier. No disrespect to Barnsley or Rochdale, but this is going to be the biggest test they’ve ever come across.
“Whatever way it goes, it’s going to stretch them and that’s what we want.
“When we got the draw against Sunderland we knew ‘this couldn’t get any harder’.
“Our focus is solely on getting something from this Sunderland game, and we know it’s going to be the toughest game of the season.”
