Pep Guardiola again the influence of David Silva after the Spanish maestro produced another sublime display in Manchester City’s 6-0 Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk.
Silva scored the opener – his third consecutive goal in Europe - and was again instrumental in much of City’s best work on a night which saw Gabriel Jesus register a first-ever hat-trick in senior football.
And in his post-match press conference, the City manager said it merely reinforced his opinion of Silva’s world-class qualities.
“I said yesterday: in that position, David is one of best players in world,” said Guardiola.
“He scored one of most important goals for us away in Hoffenheim when the situation was so serious.
“Every game, he is there, fighting for us living closer to the box, creating more chances.
“It is so important for us to have him at that level.”
