About

For Dean, Black History Month is a time to celebrate different cultures and reflect on the contributions of Black people, including those who have shaped football and Manchester City.

In nearly nine years at the Club, Dean has found a place where he can grow and make a contribution. He sees football’s ability to bring people together in the game’s universal appeal and feels proud to see young Black players making their mark at the Joie Stadium and in the City Academy.

As co-lead of Manchester City’s Ethnicity Network, Dean helps create a space for colleagues to share experiences, build connections and make sure staff voices are heard. Through the network, he supports conversations about representation, inclusion and how the Club can be a place where people of all backgrounds feel valued and able to belong.

Dean says Black players and staff are woven into the Club’s story. He points to Alex Williams and past players who helped pave the way, and says it is encouraging to see the Club becoming more representative of the community it serves. His message for Black History Month is: “Listen. Learn. Evolve. Change. Understand.”
