Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola provided an update on the injuries suffered by Phil Foden and Nathan Ake during Tuesday's Champions League defeat to RB Leipzig.

Despite City being on the front foot for much of the first half, we found ourselves behind when Dominik Szoboszlai rounded Zack Steffen to give the German side the lead.

That lead was then doubled when Andre Silva struck for Leipzig, and although Riyad Mahrez did pull one back for City in the closing stages, we couldn’t find an equaliser in a game that saw Kyle Walker sent off after a challenge on goalscorer Silva.

Whilst the defeat did not cost City as we had already secured passage to the knockout stages as group winners, what is more troubling for Pep Guardiola is the injuries suffered to Foden and Ake during the clash in Germany.

He explained: “Nathan has a problem with his back - we will see tomorrow.

“Phil had problems in the beginning of the game with his ankle, he was taken off as a precaution.”
