Mary Fowler’s strike against Aston Villa has been shortlisted for September’s Barclays Women's Super League Goal of the Month.

The Australian international’s goal ensured City doubled our advantage before the half-hour mark and set us on our way to another impressive victory.

Fowler linked up with Bunny Shaw following a neat one-two and arrowed a vicious shot past Okuma from the edge of the area.

It typified a threating first half display from City, who went on to win 4-1 at Villa Park.

Having been at the centre of the action the week prior against Birmingham City, Fowler proved heroic once again as she looks to be back at her best following her return from an ACL injury.

And it really was just the beginning for the 23-year-old whose star quality performance saw her record two goals in as many games.

Fowler’s strike is one of eight contenders for September’s Goal of the Month award.

She is up against Danielle van de Donk (London City Lionesses v Manchester United), Lisa Baum (Brighton v Arsenal), Kirsty Hanson (Tottenham v West Ham), Grace Fisk (Charlton Athletic v Liverpool), Jodie Hutton (Charlton Athletic v London City Lionesses), Lynn Wilms (Brighton v Aston Villa) and Oceane Hurte (Birmingham City v Crystal Palace).

You can vote for Mary’s goal now by clicking here with voting open until 11.00 UK on Monday, 5 October.

The winner will be announced on Thursday, 8 October.
