City duo up for PFA player of the month fans’ award

Lauren Hemp and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw have both been shortlisted for the PFA Vertu Motors Fans' Player of the Month award for October.

The pair were a major part of an impressive month for Gareth Taylor’s side, in which we won all three of our Women’s Super League games as well as the League Cup clash with Blackburn Rovers.

We kicked off the month with a 4-0 victory over Leicester City when Shaw netted twice and Hemp was also on the scoresheet before Yui Hasegawa wrapped up the game.

That was followed up by an impressive 3-0 win away to Tottenham Hotspur when Shaw hit two more before Hemp added the third to round off the victory.

Both were rested for the Continental Cup as we began our defence of the trophy with a comfortable 6-0 win against Blackburn before returning for the final game of the month against Liverpool.

Hemp created the opener in a 2-1 victory with a mazy run and perfectly weighted pass that was neatly dispatched by Shaw. Hayley Raso added a 75th-minute winner as City moved up to fourth in the WSL table.

Hemp and Shaw face competition from Mary Earps and Nikita Parris of Manchester United, Arsenal's Frida Maanum and Chelsea's Pernille Harder for the award.
