City duo Ruby Mace and Laura Blindkilde Brown both played the full 90 minutes as England's Under-23s were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw in their latest European league clash against the Netherlands.

The pair both started the game in Marbella as the England youngsters sought to bounce back from last Friday’s 3-1 loss to Spain’s Under-23s.

And a dominant young Lionesses looked on course for victory when they took the lead through Hannah Silcock’s 37th minute effort.

That breakthrough arrived after England had peppered numerous shots at the Dutch goal with Mace amongst those to be denied by Netherlands ‘keeper Danielle de Jong.

Aggie Beever-Jones then had the chance to extend England’s advantage on 71 minutes only to head Poppy Pattinson’s inviting cross against the bar.

And England were left to rue that miss when the Netherlands claimed a dramatic leveller two minutes into injury time via Fenna Kalma leaving both sides to settle for a point.
