Eight City stars selected for Lionesses
Eight Manchester City stars have been named in new England Head Coach Sarina Wiegman's first squad selection.

Steph Houghton, Alex Greenwood, Esme Morgan, Demi Stokes, Jill Scott, Georgia Stanway, Ellen White and Lauren Hemp have all been included in the 25-strong list for the Lionesses' September 2023 World Cup qualifiers.

Youngster and lifelong City fan Morgan is yet to make her senior debut but has been involved in senior training camps over the last year.

The Lionesses will start their season against North Macedonia at Southampton’s St. Mary’s Stadium on Friday 17 September before facing a trip to play Luxembourg four days later.

Meanwhile, fresh from her Olympic exploits with Team GB, Caroline Weir has also been named in new Scotland Head Coach Pedro Martinez Losa's first squad.

The SWNT squad open their World Cup qualifiers with a trip to Hungary (Friday 17 September) before hosting the Faroe Islands (Tuesday 21 September).

The squads will meet up at St. George’s Park following this weekend’s FA Women's Super League fixtures - City at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 12 September at 18:45 UK time - to begin their preparations for the North Macedonia game.
