Ellen White shortlisted for Women's Ballon d'Or

City and England striker Ellen White has been nominated for the 2021 Women's Ballon d'Or.

Our prolific forward, who was voted her country's Player of the Year last month and is just three goals away from equalling Kelly Smith's all‑time Lionesses goalscoring record, has earned further acclaim - named in the 20-strong shortlist for France Football's coveted prize.

White, who starred at the Tokyo Summer Olympics for Team GB with six goals, scored 15 times in 32 appearances for City last season, helping Gareth Taylor's side to the 2019/20 Women's FA Cup.

Alongside the City forward, there are six other FA Women's Super League players included in the Ballon d'Or shortlist: Chelsea quintet Magdalena Eriksson, Sam Kerr, Pernille Harder, Jessie Fleming and Fran Kirby, and Arsenal's Vivianne Miedema.

The winner will be announced on 29 November at Paris' Theatre du Chatelet.

There was no award presented in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ada Hegerberg and Megan Rapinoe were the two previous winners in 2018 and 2019, while Lucy Bronze earned second-place in the 2019 edition.

Good luck, Ellen!
