Blakstad relishing more advanced role

Julie Blakstad explained how she is loving life in a more advanced role after scoring in our 3-0 Conti Cup win over Sunderland

The Norwegian opened the scoring at the Academy Stadium, tapping home from close range before strikes from Hayley Raso and Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw sealed us the three points.

And Blakstad, who made it two goals in two games following her strike against Everton remarked how much she is enjoying her more advanced role.

She said: "I do really like to play high up on the pitch like I do now.

"After summer I've been up there pretty much all the time.

"I think that is where I like to play and hopefully where I will stay as well."

Blakstad's latest strike set the tone for a deserved win, with the winger set up by fellow Scandinavian Filippa Angeldahl.

The goalscorer has explained the role the Swedish midfielder has played in helping her settle during her time at the club.

"She's been really important to me," Blakstad explained.

"I drive with her every day to training and she's been really nice.

"It's good to have someone that reminds you of back home."
