The Japanese midfielder has become our second January acquisition this window, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract which will keep her at the Joie Stadium until the summer of 2027.

Gareth Taylor’s side’s latest recruit has earned an exciting reputation in Japan and for her nation’s youth sides thanks to sparkling displays in the engine room.

She was an important member of the Japan Under-16s side that won the AFC U16 Women’s Championship in 2019 before she helped her Nadeshiko’s U20s to successive Women’s World Cup finals in 2022 and 2024.

Oyama has now arrived at Manchester City and follows fellow Japan stars Yui Hasegawa, Ayaka Yamashita, Aoba Fujino and Risa Shimizu in representing the Blues.

Pictured at the City Football Academy ahead of signing her deal with Gareth Taylor’s team, Aemu posed for her official photographs before conducting her first official interview with the Club.

She also took the time to have some photos taken in a suit provided by our official formalwear partner, the Fold, as well as some more stylised shots in front of a striking backdrop.
