More than 10 years on from first joining the Club, 18-year-old Rico Lewis has committed to Manchester City until 2028.

The Bury-born defender passed serenely through the ranks of our Academy, eventually captaining the Under-18s to Premier League glory in 2021/22.

That caught the attention of Pep Guardiola, who invited him on last summer’s tour of the US, where Lewis impressed in front of huge crowds.

Now, just 12 months on, Lewis is a Treble winner having played a vital role in our Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup successes last season.

All this months before he even turns 19!

Slight in stature but mighty in character, Lewis started as a traditional full-back early in 2022/23, making his Premier League debut as a late substitute for Kyle Walker in a home victory over AFC Bournemouth.

His first goal came in the Champions League group stage win over Sevilla, firing the ball high into the net.

As the season wore on, he was asked to move into midfield while the Blues were in possession. As expected, the youngster took it in his stride and impressed.

Now, Lewis is looking to build on the incredible experiences of his first year in senior football and his new contract will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2028.
