Raheem Sterling breaks into City's top 10 goalscorers of all-time

Raheem Sterling has entered the top 10 on the list of Manchester City’s all-time highest goalscorers.

The winger’s stunning 20-yard curling effort against Sporting in the first leg of our Champions League last 16 tie was his 127th since joining the Club in July 2015, moving him above Alec Herd into outright 10th position in the rankings.

Sterling achieved the notable feat in his 323rd appearance for City and it was also the 150th goal of his club career.

To date, the 27-year-old has netted 88 times for City in the Premier League, 24 in the Champions League, eight in the FA Cup, six in the League Cup and once in the Community Shield.

Indeed, his 24 goals in the Champions League mean he is now joint-second with Paul Scholes on the list of highest scoring Englishmen in the competition's history. Only Wayne Rooney (30) has more.

He needs six more goals to move further up the rankings, with Fred Tilson and Billy Gillespie tied ahead of him in ninth place having both hit the back of the net on 132 occasions.

Sterling scored his first goal on his fourth appearance in City colours, converting Bacary Sagna’s cross on the volley in a 2-0 win over Watford in August 2015 and he went on to net his first career hat-trick two months later as Manuel Pellegrini’s side thrashed Bournemouth 5-1.

The England international has scored regularly throughout his City career, but that facet of his game has reached new heights under Pep Guardiola.

Sterling has exceeded 20 goals in three of the last four seasons, hitting a career best 31 in 2019-20, before reaching 100 in sky blue the following campaign and nobody in the current squad has scored more times than our No.7.

Everyone at Manchester City congratulates Raheem on what is another notable milestone in his career.
