Pep Guardiola will wait to see how Kevin De Bruyne is in training ahead of Manchester City’s final Premier League game of the season against West Ham.

City need a victory over the Hammers to guarantee top spot to make history as the first men’s team ever to win four titles in the row.

Ederson has been ruled out after tests revealed he had suffered a fractured eye socket in our 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday evening that took us two points clear going into final league game at 16:00 (UK) at the Etihad.

Ederson will also miss the FA Cup final against Manchester United on 25 May with Stefan Ortega Moreno set to start.

He replaced Ederson in the 69th minute at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and earned the player of the match award after a number of excellent saves, including a sensational stop to deny Son Heung-Min a late equaliser.

Kevin De Bruyne received treatment in the win at Spurs after being caught on the ankle and was later replaced.

“We will see today,” Guardiola said at his prematch news conference. “Yesterday we were off and today we’ve got training and I will see.”

City could still claim the title if Arsenal fail to beat Everton in their final game at the Etihad Stadium but Guardiola says that we have to make sure of three points.

But the boss is expecting a tough game and predicts another nail-biter similar to our final day title winners at the Etihad against QPR in 2012 and Aston Villa two years ago.

Goals from Ilkay Gundogan and Rodrigo turned around a 2-0 deficit with only 20 minutes remaining and Guardiola says the memory of that game is still fresh in the mind of many of the squad.

And he will remind the players that the hard work is not yet done in the final training sessions before Sunday.

“I think the fact that they lived it not too long ago, some players are still here and they feel it,” he added.

“That’s what I saw perfectly in the reaction in the locker room after Spurs away a few days ago.

“They were relieved, they were ‘wow’ but there were no extra celebrations or something. They were happy but incredibly calm.

“There was nothing more special than another game in the Premier League. It was like okay, this gives us the chance for the last game of the season.

“They know they have a lot of work to do. Today they will feel it, what I I will show them, they will feel it. There is still a lot of work to do.”
