The 18-year-old winger netted for the third time in as many games and was a constant threat down the left flank as City beat Blackpool 4-1 in a behind closed doors friendly at the Academy Stadium.
Edozie, who signed from Millwall in July 2019, has delivered a string of impressive displays this summer.
He was also on target against Preston North End and Barnsley and Dickov says the unpredictable nature of his wide play is reminiscent of Mahrez.
“He’s not scared to run at the full-back, use his pace and then cut inside across him,” he explained on the latest edition of Matchday Live.
“For someone so young, it’s really good game intelligence from him.
“There’s a bit of Riyad Mahrez in him when he gets the ball. He mixes it up and isn’t predictable.
“One minute he goes inside then goes outside. He’s always asking questions of the full-back.”
The delayed return of a host of senior players granted Edozie his chance in the first team and he has grasped the opportunity with both hands.
Whilst the competition for places is significant, Dickov feels the teenager has proved he can perform should he be needed and says his experience in pre-season will have only benefited his development ahead of the new campaign.
“His performances have shown that [he could start in the Community Shield],” added the former City striker.
“We’ve spoken about putting down a marker and he has certainly done that. He’s scoring goals, which is what Pep wants from his wide players.
“Don’t get me wrong there’s competition in front of him, but the experience of being out there scoring goals and the confidence it will give him will do the world of good going into the season.”
