Looking back at events - good or otherwise - that happened on this day in our history...

18 May

1968

A marathon post-season tour of the United States and Canada begins with a 1-1 draw against Scottish Cup winners, Dunfermline Athletic.

Neil Young fires home a 25-yard equaliser at Toronto’s Varsity Stadium, just one week after City had claimed the Division One league title.

The champions would spend a month away from home and paid the price for their exertions the following season, when, unable to recover from a sluggish start, we eventually finished thirteenth in Division One.

2014

A Toni Duggan goal secures our first ever FA WSL win, as we beat Arsenal 1-0 in our third league game of our maiden professional campaign.

The England forward turns in Krystal Johnson’s cross after ten minutes and spurns a good chance midway through the second half that would have made the contest more comfortable.

Nick Cushing’s side survive a late onslaught from the Gunners, with Karen Bardsley tipping Kelly Smith’s long-range effort onto the bar to guarantee our first three points.

2019

City become the first men's side to win all four English trophies in one season, as we sweep Watford aside with a 6-0 victory in the FA Cup final.

Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling both grab a brace at Wembley Stadium, where David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne are also on target in what is the biggest FA Cup final win since Bury beat Derby 6-0 in 1903.

A performance of real class seals an unprecedented achievement and cements Pep Guardiola's side's place as one of the finest seen on these shores.

Birthdays

Former right-back Danny Mills turns 43 today.

Mills made 54 appearances for the Club between 2004 and 2006, scoring once, but what a goal it was.

The defender arrowed a 30-yard drive into the top corner as City beat Everton 2-0 in October 2005.
