Enzo Maresca drafted the deadline-day signing straight into the starting team, along with fellow new arrival Enzo Fernández, who was also called into the team after Nico O’Reilly picked up a knock in the warm up.
Erling Haaland’s header after 26 minutes from Antoine Semenyo’s pinpoint cross secured the three hard-fought points at the Etihad Stadium to continue our winning start to the new campaign.
“I really enjoyed it. This is the level I want to be at,” said Ndiaye in an interview after the victory. “Started with a win, so couldn’t get any better. It felt great, obviously we wanted to win the game.”
“The last few days have been really good. Obviously, I am at City now, so I am happy. Happy the move got done. The lads have been welcoming me very good.”
The winger was replaced by Academy graduate Ryan McAidoo after 87 minutes, following some treatment on the field, but he eased any concerns by confirming the problem was not serious and reserved special praise for manager Maresca.
“No, no [nothing serious]. A little bit of cramp.
“He’s been amazing. A top manager. Like we said to each other, all the games are going to be hard.
“I hope it will stay like this. It’s not finished, I still have a lot of things to achieve here, trophies, that’s what I came here for. I hope all goes well.
