Injury news: Foden and Ake update
Pep Guardiola says Phil Foden is improving after aggravating an ankle knock in midweek.

The 21-year-old playmaker has been in top form in recent weeks but was forced off at half-time during the 2-1 defeat by Red Bull Leipzig in midweek.

The boss says Foden and Nathan Ake will be checked at training on Friday afternoon to discover if one or both are available for the visit of Wolves this Saturday lunchtime.

“We will assess this afternoon,” said Pep. “We are training in a few hours.

“When you have an injury in your ankle and two months of holiday, you will recover incredibly well - but when you play every three days, you will have niggles.

“Phil is getting better. He will dictate and say how he feels after games.

“But in December, with this amount of games and knowing Phil, he will want to play and be there.”

There were no reported fresh injury concerns at the manager’s Friday press conference.
