Josko Gvardiol says he’s delighted with his brace and City’s clean sheet in our superb 4-0 Premier League win over Fulham.

The Croatia international broke the deadlock after dancing into the box and coolly slotting into the bottom corner in the 13th minute before Phil Foden doubled our lead after half-time.

With Pep Guardiola’s side continuing to probe, the versatile defender extended our lead with his fifth in his last seven outings when ghosting towards the back post and prodding past Bernd Leno.

We were then awarded a penalty in second-half stoppage time which Julian Alvarez expertly dispatched.

Although Gvardiol revealed he wanted to take the spot kick to notch a hat-trick, he explained his joy in seeing the Argentine score.

“Another great performance not just from me but from the team as well,” he said.

“It was very difficult, but today we showed again who we are and what we are ready for. Another two goals, I’m happy and a clean sheet.

“We were discussing about me taking the penalty I said I’d like to take it, but we know who is the taker and he takes. In the end it was Julian and I’m happy for him to score a goal.

“No [I’m not doing anything different to score goals], I just think its normal in sports. Currently I’m in good form and the end of the season is coming. Three more finals so we need to be ready.”

The three points at Craven Cottage moves City to the Premier League’s summit with title rivals Arsenal next in action on Sunday at Manchester United.

However, Pep Guardiola’s side know victories in our final two assignments at Spurs and at home to West Ham will seal a record fourth title.

Gvardiol, though, says the Blues are approaching the end of the season one game at a time and is anticipating a tough test against Ange Postecoglu’s side.

He added: “I said many times we need to focus on ourselves and keep going in that way.

“Of course, we talk about it [goal difference] and we are trying to get there, but it’s not easy because Arsenal have quality as well and going well too.

“[Spurs will be] another final. I played only once there and it was difficult, hopefully its going to be a good game and good day for us.”
