City duo shortlisted for Premier League Player of the Month

Joao Cancelo and Raheem Sterling have been nominated for December’s Premier League Player of the Month award.

The Manchester City duo are included on the seven-man shortlist alongside James Maddison (Leicester City), Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard (both Arsenal), Mason Mount (Chelsea) and Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur).

City enjoyed a perfect December, winning all seven league games to end 2021 with an eight-point lead at the top of the table and both Cancelo and Sterling were integral to our fine form.

The Portugal international scored a stunning 20-yard drive and crossed for Ruben Dias to head home as we eased to a 4-0 victory over Newcastle United, with the full-back helping Pep Guardiola’s men keep a further two clean sheets from his six appearances.

Sterling scored a league-high five times, including a brace against Leicester City and the winner against Wolverhampton Wanderers to bring up his 100th goal in the competition, whilst he also provided an assist for Dias in the 2-1 eclipse of Aston Villa.

Supporters can cast their vote for both players, here.

Voting closes at 12:00 (UK) on Monday 10 January and the winner will be announced at 11:00 the following Friday.
