Palmer signs new City deal
Cole Palmer has signed a new contract, penning an extension which will keep him at City until 2026.

The attacking midfielder, who has been part of our Academy set-up for more than a decade, made his first team debut last September in our Carabao Cup win away at Burnley.

He followed that by making his Champions League bow as a substitute in our 3-0 group stage win at Marseille and has also featured on the bench in a number of Premier League fixtures.

Hailing from Wythenshawe, Cole enjoyed a superb 2020/21 campaign and was a key component of City’s Elite Development Squad which lifted the Premier League 2 title for the first time.

He also scored the winner in last November’s 2020 3-2 FA Youth Cup final triumph over Chelsea.

Reflecting on his new deal, the 19-year-old said he was thrilled to have committed his long-term future to the Club and says that he is determined to keep improving in the coming years.

“It is a very proud moment. It is a dream come true and I think my family are thrilled too,” Cole told CityTV.

“Obviously when I used to go to the park with them to play football when I was little, we used to always think of moments like this, so we are very happy.

“When I first came over to the first team in June last year, it was a bit overwhelming, but I just came over with no pressure and just to play.

“I am still here so I think I have done alright!

“I have progressed pretty well because you are training with the best players every day, so you are only going to get better.

“The first-team players speak to you a lot. They give you bits of advice and tips, so it helps a lot.

“There is a lot more to come. Hopefully I will just get my chance this year and I will take it if I get it.”

Widely seen as one of the most promising Academy players we have produced in recent years, Cole is now aiming to build on a hugely impressive past 12 months.

Everyone at Manchester City would like to send their congratulations to Cole on signing his new deal and we wish him all the best for the coming years.
