Erling Haaland struck four goals in a sensational performance to lead City to a defining 5-1 Premier League victory against Wolves at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola’s men flew out of the traps, and referee, Craig Pawson, pointed straight to the spot after Rayan Ait-Nouri clattered into Josko Gvardiol in the box. Haaland stepped up and no mistake from the spot.

Just as Wolves grew into the game City struck again through our number nine. Rodrigo floated in a ball from the right to the far post, and the Norwegian rose highest and powered a brilliant header past Jose Sa for his and City’s second goal.

Haaland powered forward once more and drove into the area only to go down under a clumsy challenge from Nelson Semedo, firing home from the spot for his ninth hat-trick in a City shirt.

Eight minutes into the second half, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde set up a Wolves goal with a deep cross from the right, Ederson could only parry the ball in the direction of Hwang Hee-chan who fired home.

City were not down for long though, and straight from the restart, City powered forward and Haaland despatched onto a brilliant left footed effort which curled past Sa into the top corner of the net.

The scoring was capped off after Nunes won back possession, and Rodrigo drove to the edge of the box and fed the onrushing Alvarez who made no mistake in shooting the ball low and true past Sa as City’s five star performance took us to within a point of Arsenal with a game in hand.
