Pep Guardiola’s side returned to the Japan National Stadium for our second pre-season fixture following our 5-3 win over Yokohama F. Marinos on Sunday.

After positive spells of possession, City took the lead in the 21st minute after James McAtee followed up a loose ball which was initially saved by Yann Sommer.

Bayern Munich’s best chance came for former City player Leroy Sane who smashed the ball off the crossbar but neither team tested the goalkeepers much more afterwards.

Guardiola made eight changes at half-time as more City players got the opportunity to work on their fitness.

Along with Bayern Munich’s 11 substitutes during the break, the second half was off to a slower start compared to the opening 45 minutes.

HOW TO FOLLOW CITY’S 2023 ASIA TOUR

Both teams had glimmers of strong attacking spells but nothing that came to fruition.

Mathys Tel equalised for Thomas Tuchel’s side nine minutes prior to the final whistle in their best attack of the game.

And when it looked like the game would end in a draw, Aymeric Laporte netted in the 86th minute to keep City’s pre-season win streak alive.
