And as our image of the day from the showpiece in France illustrates, Montpellier's Stade de la Mosson provided a stunning backdrop for a tense clash.

One goal would prove enough to separate the sides, with Beckie claiming the assist on her World Cup debut for Kadeisha Buchanan's matchwinner on the stroke of half-time.
