We booked our place firmly in the quarter-finals of the FA Women's Cup with a comprehensive victory and goals courtesy of Houghton, Lauren Hemp and Gemma Bonner.
It was Steph who broke deadlock with a fine free-kick, which inspired the Blues to reach the last eight of the competition.
Speaking after the win, the centre-back stated that she was delighted with City’s professionalism.
“We knew that coming here on this pitch it was going to be a bit difficult for us but we remained professional,” Houghton said. “We respect Tottenham for what they’ve done so far in their league but for us it was all about remaining patient and showing our quality, as well as our physical attributes too.
“We are delighted to be in the draw for the quarter-finals.”
After Steph netted our first, the second soon followed, with Hemp’s lofted shot doubling our lead just two minutes later.
“Obviously we wanted the first goal and we had a few chances to just before (the free-kick),” Steph added. “It’s great to put one in the back of the net, but for me, I knew the goal was coming it was just a matter of when!
“We showed a lot of maturity today, even though weve got a number of young players, and once the first goal went it I knew another would follow quickly.”
The Blues now go into the hat for the final eight, with The SSE Women’s FA Cup Quarter Final draw set to be broadcast live on the BBC News Channel during Sportsday from approximately 6.30pm on Monday 18 February.
